Finding Inspiration and Supplies

My recent trip to a local craft store led to an exciting find: an adorable little bread basket. The basket's charming design immediately sparked an idea – to create a personalized name plaque that would perfectly complement the Tuscan-inspired aesthetic I'm cultivating in my home.

The project felt like a natural extension of my home decor theme. I searched for the Italian word for 'rolls' to maintain the consistent Italian feel. A perfect addition to the already lovely basket

Painting the Bread Basket

With my vision in mind, I began the transformation by painting the bread basket. Because the plaque will be visible from all angles, I made sure to thoroughly paint every surface.

I used a multi-surface satin paint in black tie. After the first coat dried, I applied additional coats to ensure a rich, even finish.

Adding the Italian Word for Rolls

Once the paint was dry, it was time to add the finishing touch: the Italian word for rolls. For this dark surface, I opted for white transfer paper to ensure the lettering would stand out clearly.

I carefully taped the word in place before sliding the transfer paper underneath. Tracing over the letters ensured a crisp, clean transfer.

Finishing Touches and Final Reveal

After the transfer, I filled in the lettering with a muted gold paint. Several coats were needed to achieve the rich, luxurious look I desired.

The finished plaque perfectly complements the bread basket and adds a charming touch to my Tuscan-themed house. The entire project was a fun and rewarding experience.
